Heyyyy! Here you’ll find answers to common questions about therapy. Whether you’re new to therapy or looking for specific information, this section is designed to help you feel informed and confident as you begin your journey. If you have additional questions, don’t hesitate to reach out!
Therapy is a safe, supportive space where you can explore your thoughts, feelings, and behaviors with a trained professional. It helps you develop coping strategies, gain insight into challenges, and make positive changes in your life. It also can be a safe place to learn more about yourself, your thoughts, behaviors and patterns; a place that cultivates change and gives direction and insight.
If you’re feeling stuck, overwhelmed, or seeking growth in specific areas of your life, therapy can help. Whether you’re facing anxiety, depression, relationship struggles, or simply need someone to talk to, therapy provides tools and guidance tailored to your needs.
I specialize in personal growth, relationship issues, anxiety, depression, self-esteem, grief, mood disorders, stress, and life transitions. My approach is tailored to each client’s unique goals and circumstances.
The first session is an opportunity for us to get to know each other. We’ll discuss your goals, current challenges, and any concerns you have. This session also gives you a chance to ask questions and see if my approach feels like a good fit for you.
The length of therapy varies depending on your goals and needs. Some clients find relief in a few sessions, while others prefer ongoing support over a longer period. Together, we’ll create a plan that works best for you.
My session fees are $150 for individual therapy and $175 for relationship therapy. I accept Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan, Blue Care Network, United Healthcare, Priority healthcare, and Aetna.
I require at least 3 hour notice for cancellations. Late cancellations or missed appointments are subject $25 fee.
Yes, I offer a limited number of sliding scale slots to make therapy more accessible. Please contact me to discuss availability.
It’s best to contact your insurance provider directly to confirm your coverage, including copays, deductibles, and session limits. I’m happy to assist with this process if needed.
At this time I offer virtual sessions via Zoom.
My approach is person-centered, cognitive-behavioral therapy. I tailor my techniques to meet your unique needs and goals, ensuring you feel supported and understood.
Person-Centered Therapy
Person-Centered Therapy, developed by Carl Rogers, is a humanistic approach that focuses on creating a safe, empathetic, and nonjudgmental space for clients. It emphasizes self-discovery and personal growth by fostering a collaborative relationship between the client and therapist. This approach operates on the belief that individuals have the innate ability to understand and resolve their own challenges when provided with the right support and unconditional positive regard.
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is a goal-oriented, evidence-based approach that helps clients identify and change negative thought patterns and behaviors contributing to emotional distress. By examining how thoughts, feelings, and actions are interconnected, CBT equips clients with practical tools to manage challenges such as anxiety, depression, and stress. This structured approach is highly effective in fostering lasting changes and building healthier coping strategies.

No, I offer psychotherapy aka “talk therapy”. Psychotherapy is a collaborative process between a trained therapist and a client aimed at improving mental health and well-being. Through structured conversations, clients explore their thoughts, emotions, and behaviors to gain insight into challenges and develop healthier coping mechanisms. Psychotherapy can address a wide range of issues, some being trauma and career, my services aren’t specialized and tailored to those specific practices.
Yes, everything you share in therapy is confidential, with a few exceptions required by law. These exceptions include situations involving harm to yourself or others, child abuse, or if a court orders the release of information.
Confidentiality may be broken if there is an immediate risk of harm to you or others, or if required by law. I’ll always do my best to discuss this with you beforehand, if possible.
After the completion of the new client intake documentation(electronically), the first session is scheduled. This is a very brief process and can’t all be completed within a few hours.
Yourself, that’s it. That’s all, no preparation needed.
